Ivana Yakubovskogo Street in Orsha is a relatively small street, whose main landmark is Secondary School No. 13, located at building 42. This three-story building was constructed in 1965. In 2023, the school was named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Ivan Ignatievich Yakubovsky, and a memorial plaque was unveiled on the building in his honor. The street's name perpetuates the memory of the celebrated native, whose life was closely connected with Orsha: it was here in the 1930s that he studied at the pedagogical college, where his interest in military affairs first emerged. Ivan Yakubovsky rose from commander of a tank battalion to Marshal of the Soviet Union and Commander-in-Chief of the Joint Armed Forces of the Warsaw Pact countries, twice being awarded the title of Hero for his exploits during the Great Patriotic War. Thus, the street bears the name of a man whose childhood, youth, and the beginning of his path to military glory were inextricably linked with the Orsha region.
